A knitting finish

Thank you to everyone who sent messages or posted comments after my last post. It has been a stressful time for the family and all your thoughts and prayers helped a lot. Dad had an angiogram and 2 stents inserted yesterday and has been discharged to my Mum and brother's care at home. Thank goodness for the NHS. Wonderful care and treatment from dedicated staff. I could not speak more highly of the unit my father was treated in.

I managed to finish my Entangled Vines cardigan as well. I am pleased with the result now and it is certainly cosy. Next time though I would knit the size down. There is quite a bit of positive ease and I think maybe slightly too long.

Never one to sit idle, I have cast on another of Alana Dakos' designs. This time it is the Gnarled Oak cardigan.

I'm using Debbie Bliss Rialto (DK) in coral.

I'll be linking up on Sunday to Wool on Sundays.

Right now I am getting down to cooking for the weekend at my parents house. I've made a Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato soup and will also be baking Mary Berry's Orange layer cake. I thought I would take a lasagne for the freezer and roast a chicken too. Busy busy!!!!

  1. Your finished knit looks wonderful! I agree - thank goodness for the NHS - they are an absolute blessing. Coming from a country where you had to pay exorbitant prices for health insurance in order to receive good health care, there is not a day that goes past when I am not grateful for such a wonderful health system as we have here. I'm glad to hear that your dad is resting at home :)

  5. I had 2 stents fitted in 2012 so dad has my empathy. I must have had angina though they were pains in my back, beneath my shoulder blade for 2 yrs and Drs sent me away saying it was undoubtedly muscular. However one lady Dr put 2 and 2 tog and sent me for tests and the angiogram was to prove/disprove angina lol and lo and behold there was a 90% blockage on the (painful back) side! The surgeon couldn't belive I hadn't had pain so was annoyed when I said that I had but it wasn't diagnosed as unstable angina lol Id felt like a run down battery all the time.
Dad will feel so much better Im positive.
I was fascinated during the op watching my heart on a screen, a bit bizarre I suppose, but there didn't seem any point panicking when they were that close to my 'battery'!!
The cardigan is lovely and I too prefer the snug bum coverage, it means you can wear them as a lightweight jacket that way too.

  7. My brother in law had an angioplasty op earlier this year and returned to work a few weeks ago after 3 weeks recovery. Amazing the difference it has made. I hope that your Dad recovers well from his op, it's a worry when elderly parents are ill.
