Halloween tote bags

Mike and I are off up to the Lake District this weekend to see some of the family. As it will be Halloween I decided to make special tote bags for some treats for Vivi and Hugo.

This was such a simple but fun pattern that I found at Skip to my Lou. The bag is reversible too.

I used a fun Halloween print that I found at the Malvern Quilt Show last weekend; Halloween Manor by Deb Strain for Moda. The lining is a plain black and the plain orange I bought at Busy Bees Patchwork in Newport. I had intended to appliqué a black cat on one and an owl on the other but I settled instead for their initials as I had been sewing all day and wanted a quick finish.

I have bought all sorts of goodies for the bags, colouring books, coloured pencils, stickers, nail transfers, spooky paper chain strips, spider biscuits and chocolate. I am making some spooky iced cupcakes and we'll be hollowing out our pumpkins with the children's help on Saturday.

Have a spectacular, spooky weekend,

  1. I love your Halloween bags. You can never have too many treat bags to fill up!
Have a safe trip. B in md

  2. Lucky kids, I'm sure they'll love the Halloween goody bags, and then will probably use them for other things for the rest of the year, they're far too nice to save for one night of the year!

  3. Vivi and Hugo are going to love their gorgeous Halloween bags filled with treats. Love the fabrics. Have a great weekend!

  4. Great bags Catherine, they're going to love them, especially with all the goodies inside - lucky things! Sounds like you're going to be busy too, hope you have a wonderful time x

  5. yay for bags! I have bags made for all of my grandkids this year, courtesy of a website that sells bandanas that asked me to do a post on my blog about them.

  6. Love a tote that can be used year after year and doesn't play into the plastic disposable world of Hallowe'en! And they'll be easier to carry than a pillowcase! :)

  7. I bet these were a big hit. I've missed so much in blogland lately that I'm two weeks behind in visiting!

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. I read every one I get and try to get back to you as soon as I can.
